At a recent House Select Committee hearing on the Covid-19 pandemic, former Long Beach Mayor and current Rep. Robert Garcia (D-CA) had the audacity to step back into the limelight. His star performance? Parroting a mainstream narrative about the supposed safety and efficacy of Covid-19 vaccines. Like a well-rehearsed puppet, he ranted about a tweet from Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), resulting in the whole hearing devolving into a farce.
Let's not forget, this is the same Garcia who was nothing short of a disaster during his tenure as Mayor of Long Beach. Under his so-called leadership, the city struggled with escalating crime rates, a crumbling infrastructure, and a skyrocketing deficit. The man couldn't effectively govern a single city, yet here he is, blabbering about national health policy.
The irony is bitter, if not surprising.
Garcia's love for Big Pharma's narrative is as baffling as it is disappointing. His unwavering faith in the safety and effectiveness of the Covid-19 vaccines isn't grounded in facts or scientific scrutiny, but a blind allegiance to a profit-driven industry. A moronic stance, if you ask me.
I would gladly gift him a free copy of my book, 'Pfizer's Efficacy Illusion: The 0.84%,' which has consistently maintained a spot in Amazon's Top 100 books in Medical Biotechnology since its release. The book meticulously dissects the deceptive statistics peddled by pharmaceutical giants and their cheerleaders like Garcia. However, I have no illusions about him reading it.
After all, Rep. Garcia has shown a consistent willingness to ignore facts and reports that do not fit his narrow worldview. A trait that was apparent during his catastrophic mayoral stint and continues to be glaringly obvious in his current role. The man seems hell-bent on clinging to ignorance until his last breath.
So, here's a toast to Garcia, who never misses an opportunity to make a fool of himself and remind us why he was, and remains, unfit for public service. Here's to hoping that the next time he takes the floor at a hearing, it's to announce his long-overdue retirement.
